This is a rough, tough story which describes the violence and
hopelessness of what would be described in a ‘Redtop’ as the criminal
underclass. It’s about drugs, squalor and the terror in which some lives are lived.
You’ll take against the central character from the beginning- you won’t like him.
But then the author develops a subtlety to this person and reveals a different side
to his life, his character, which forces you to reflect on
any knee-jerk position it’s so easy to take when faced with the facts of such lives.
The story will force you to think and, possibly, to either sympathise or even empathise.
Very well written, with great pace in delivery.
