Shut the Eyes of the Dead

This story is just an incredible read. The writing, the style, the pace, are all perfect. The attention to detail demonstrates an author with professionalism at her fingertips, and I’m not surprised at all to read in the bio that she’s been taken up by a publisher. A sense of atmosphere and context pervade this story, with references to works of art which make this even more original and unique. In the tight confines of the short story genre the author has brought her central characters alive, and it’s the small detail, like a gesture of pushing strands of hair behind an ear, which bring a simplicity to the work where needed which says everything. This work must be read- highly recommended, and I hope I can read more soon.
